Saraki May Lose Properties To FG As Court Takes Decision

The Federal High Court, Lagos has fixed February 6, 2020, for knowing about application looking to stop last relinquishment of certain properties connected to a previous Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki. 


Equity Muhammed Liman had on October 21, fixed Thursday for knowing about the application from any intrigued people to show cause for the properties not to be for all time relinquished to the Federal government subsequent to giving the EFCC movement for break relinquishment of the said properties. 

The properties situated at 17 and 17A McDonald Road, Ikoyi, at Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State are said to have a place with the prompt past Senate President. 

Equity Liman had allowed the ex parte movement for the between time relinquishment of the two properties and affirmation ousted to by one Olamide Sadiq, which were contended by the attorney to the EFCC, Nnaemeka Omewa. 

In supplicating the court to relinquish the properties in the meantime, Omewa had told the court that the properties were suspected to have been gained through continues of unlawful assets by Saraki 

In the wake of giving the movement ex parte, Justice Liman had additionally requested the EFCC to distribute the request for relinquishment of the two properties in a national day by day inside fourteen days for any invested individual or gatherings to show cause why the properties won't be forever relinquished to the Federal legislature of Nigeria. He had suspended the issue till November 7 for a report of consistence. 

On November 7, the EFCC through legal counselor, Rotimi Oyedepo, educated the court regarding consistency with the court request and encouraged the court to make the interval request last. 

Be that as it may, Saraki's legal counselor told the court that they were in court in regard to the properties and asked the court to hear them. 

In any case, Oyedepo, contrary to the presence of Saraki's attorney, said that the reason for that day's procedures was for the EFCC to illuminate the court regarding its consistency with the request. 

Thus, Justice Liman suspended till Thursday, December 5, for becoming aware of all things considered.

Therefore, EFCC legal advisor Omewa, and a legal counselor from Saraki's legitimate group, Mr. Deji O, met on the issue and concurred that the case is suspended till February 6, 2020.
