FIRS Issues 7-Day Notice To Tax Defaulters

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has served a seven-day notice to impose defaulters the nation over. 


The Head, Communications and Servicom Department, Mr. Wahab Gbadamosi, made this known in an announcement in Abuja on Tuesday. 

Gbadamosi said the Acting Executive Chairman of FIRS, Mr. Abiodun Aina, declared this in a warning letter to citizens on Tuesday. 

He expressed that Aina educated defaulters regarding the arrangement by the support of start charge authorization against them should they keep on flopping in satisfying their duty commitments. 

The representative said the acting official director exhorted such citizens to settle their expense liabilities inside seven days of the notification to maintain a strategic distance from any bothers or breaks in their activities. 

He cited Aina as saying "The FIRS thusly illuminates all citizens, people, associations, Enterprises, Corporate associations, Ministries, Departments and Agencies who are in default of installment of duties emerging from self-evaluation, charge review, charge examination, move valuing review, request sees and some other liabilities to pay. 

"The Service will begin an across the nation charge requirement practice from Dec. 18, 2019, with the end goal of indicting defaulters and recouping all extraordinary duty liabilities. 

"The authorization is compliant with the arrangements of Sections 8, 26 (2), 33 and 35 of the FIRS foundation Act, 2007. 

"The charges alluded to are as per the following: Petroleum Profits Tax, Companies Income Tax, Value Added Tax, Withholding Tax, Tertiary Education Tax, NITDA Levy, Stamp Duty, and Capital Gains Tax," he clarified.
