Maina And His Son To Remain In Kuje Prison Till January 20

As per The Nation, Abdulrasheed Maina, previous Chairman, old Pension Reform Task Team (PRTM), and his child, Faisal, are to stay in Kuje Correctional Center, Abuja, till January 2020. 


Equity Okon Abang, who gave the request yesterday, dismissed hearing on Abdulrasheed's bail variety application till January 13, 2020, while Faisal's preliminary continuation was deferred till January 20, 2020. 

Prior yesterday, Justice Abang had noticed that however, it would not be advantageous for the court to take preliminary, bail variety contentions would be taken. 

EFCC's legal advisor Mohammed Abubakar said he was prepared for the preliminary continuation and that the following observer was in court. 

Abdulrasheed's legal advisor Mohammed Monguno helped the court to remember the pending application documented on December 6, 2019, for bail variety. 

Abubakar encouraged the court to dismiss hearing on the bail variety application on the grounds that the protection had quite recently served on him its further oath that day. 

"We apply that the conference be suspended to empower us to respond to their further sworn statement," he said. 

Monguno, who portrayed the movement as "straightforward application," said the require the suspension was to postpone continuing. 

"We were the ones who documented further oath in light of their counter-testimony. We ask your lordship not to concede their petition since it is an endeavor to defer this issue," he said. 

Deborah Apete, guidance to Maina's organization, Common Input Investment Limited, received the accommodation of Monguno, saying: "The movement is ready for hearing." 

Abubakar, in his contention, said that Maina's application was carried important to the arrangement of the ACJA and 1999 constitution. 

He said there was no arrangement in ACJA or the constitution that blocks ones from documenting further counter-oath in response to assist affirmation recorded by the candidate. 

"What the main respondent recorded was a further and better affirmation. 

"Area 36 of 1999 Constitution bears us the privilege to record further counter-testimony," he said. 

Abubakar said Maina's application was documented on December 17 however they purposely served him December 18 so as to deny EFCC the privilege to a reasonable hearing by method for reacting to the further and better oath.
