The Swiss midfielder has been cut loose at Arsenal since his conflict with fans when he was subbed against Crystal Palace in October. Xhaka was deprived of the captaincy at the club and has shown up since.
An exit has looked likely and German distribution Bild reports that he has just educated his partners that he will leave as quickly as time permits.
Sky Germany report that Hertha Berlin has made Xhaka their main need in the January window and that senior supervisor Michael Preetz has been in England to talk about the move.
Swiss paper Blick report that Hertha has just made an idea for the 27-year-old, with administrator Jurgen Klinsmann hoping to enlist 'Champions League level, players.'
An arrangement would almost certainly be a credit for the remainder of the period with an alternative to making the move perpetual in the late spring.
