Reps Probe Missing N14.8bn In Customs Service

The House of Representatives panel on Public Accounts has initiated tests into the conditions prompting the inappropriate review of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) represents years.

This pursues the result of a formal conference held by the council on Monday after a question by the country's Auditor General office with respect to the funds of the traditions administration.

The Committee on Public Accounts is exploring the arrangement of review inquiries raised against the Service somewhere in the range of 2013 and 2014 monetary years, including a supposed missing N14.8bn from the Service in 2013.

Talking during the formal conference, the Comptroller General (CG) of Customs, Col. Hamid Ali (Rtd), revealed that the association's record had not been reviewed by outside examiners for a considerable length of time as there was no endorsement from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) to draw in their administrations.

The CG, who was spoken to by an official in the Service's money office, S I Ibrahim, stated:

"I need to tell this fair Committee that presently, the Service has no examined records since we have no endorsement from the Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP, to draw in outer evaluators.

As indicated by him, before the presentation of the Treasury Single Accounts (TSA), 28 Commercial banks were gathering revues for the benefit of the Service.
