The DSS captured Sowore on August 3 and he has been in guardianship from that point forward regardless of being conceded bail twice.
The dissident is standing preliminary on seven tallies of treasonable lawful offense, extortion, digital stalking and "offending the president".
In a video message she routed to President Muhammadu Buhari and Yusuf Bichi, executive general of DSS, Sowore's mom said her child regularly visits her in the town during the long stretch of December.
She said he had not had the option to do so on the grounds that he is being held hostage by the DSS.
"Dear SSS, Dear Buhari, I am Yele Sowore's mom. I am sending you this message as a mother. I am a lady, your mom is a lady, your significant other is a lady moreover. This is December and Yele has been removed since August," she said in the two-minute, 40 seconds video.
"He generally comes to me in the town each December yet you have been holding him. I am a widow, my child has consistently been that way. He criticizes foul play and faces it. He doesn't flee, he faces his case.
If you don't mind discharge him and let him face his case in court. I know him, he can't flee in light of the fact that he realizes he has not carried out any wrongdoing."
She called on mothers across the country to speak up against the “unlawful detention” of Sowore, saying her son is only asking for a better Nigeria which holds a bright future for all.
Sowore’s mother added her health had been failing her as she is bothered that the activist has not had medicare care since he was arrested.
“You are a Muslim, please in the name of Allah, leave my son, release him. I call on all mothers to speak out, let us join voice for the sake of the future of our children,” she said.
“Omoyele is only asking for a better Nigeria so that all our children can have good future. My mind is disturbed that he has not been allowed to go for medical care since August. Alhaji Bichi Yusuf, please obey the law since you have gone to court release Omoyele Sowore now.
“Since I gave birth to him, he always speaks against evil. Even in the village, before he went to school in Lagos, he has always been like that.
He is not a criminal, release Sowore now. Please release my son because you have your own son, you take care of your son, let me take care of my children.
“I am a widow, release my son. I cannot eat, I cannot sleep and it is affecting my health. Please release Omoyele Sowore, my son. He is not a criminal. Omoyele is not a criminal, leave him.”
