Mexico's Ex-Minister Arrested By US On Drug Charges

A previous Mexican security service has been captured in the US, accused of accepting kickbacks from a medications cartel. 


Genaro García Luna is blamed for permitting the Sinaloa cartel of "El Chapo" Guzman to work in Mexico in return for many dollars. 

Investigators state Mr. García Luna gave the cartel safe section for tranquilize shipments and access to delicate data. 

They state that on two events cartel individuals conveyed up to $5m (£3.7m) in two folder cases to him face to face. 

He has recently denied any bad behavior. 

Mr. García Luna, 52, filled in as open security boss in the organization of President Felipe Calderon somewhere in the range of 2006 and 2012. 

His capture in Texas is a significant improvement in Mexican legislative issues. 

Mr. García Luna was arrested in Dallas, Texas, on Monday. 

Court reports unlocked on Tuesday in Brooklyn indicated he had been accused of cocaine dealing scheme and owning bogus expressions. 

"García Luna stands blamed for taking a huge number of dollars in influences from 'El Chapo' Guzman's Sinaloa cartel while he controlled Mexico's Federal Police Force and was liable for guaranteeing open wellbeing in Mexico," said US Attorney Richard Donoghue, reporting the capture. 

He was additionally blamed for lying about his criminal past when he applied for US naturalization in 2018.
