Abolaji Onafuye, 54, from Hammersmith, west London, guaranteed the money subsequent to advising volunteers he was identified with two genuine casualties of the fire.
He was placed up in an inn for about a year prior to being moved to a level.
Onafuye denied extortion, yet was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court of two tallies of cheats by the false portrayal.
He is expected to be condemned at a similar court on 18 December.
The fire on 14 June 2017 in Kensington executed 72 individuals.
Examiner Michael Phillips, stated: "Abolaji Onafuye had no associations with the Grenfell Tower catastrophe however observed a chance to profit himself, both monetarily and with the settlement.
"Our indictment could demonstrate he had over and again and purposefully lied and that his post-capture story that it had all been a blameless mix-up was only an endeavor to get away from the outcomes of his pitiless trickiness."
