The drama started as Tre Amici, consisting of LeRoy, Martin and Richard from Hull took to the stage.
The three friends began to belt out Pavarotti’s hit Nessum Dorma, but they were promptly interrupted by Simon who put a halt to the performance.
Singling out singer LeRoy, Simon remarked that he had the strongest voice and requested that he sing the song by himself.
LeRoy looked distinctly uncomfortable as he debated whether to sing saying that they are a trio, while Robbie Williams called out his colleague branding him an “evil man”.
With the disagreeing audience jeering at his request, Simon insisted harder, telling him: “Can we just do it? And then we’ll have this discussion after.”
Encouraged by his supportive friends, LeRoy sang two lines of the song before suddenly stopping.
Shaking his head, he told Simon: “I just can’t do it without them!”
At this, the audience roared with cheers and gave them a standing ovation, clearly impressed by LeRoy’s loyalty to his friends.
As the audience continued to clap, the trio picked up where they left off and continued to sing the song.
Although Simon looked distinctly unhappy during the performance, he was forced to admit the defeat as he joined his fellow judges and the audience in a standing ovation for the group.
Following Louis and Ayda’s praise for the group, Simon then admitted “I was wrong”, with Tre Amici then going on to get four yeses.
