Todibo, who has played five games for Barça since his landing in the Camp Nou in January 2019, joined the German side for 1.5 million euros.
Barcelona made this known in an announcement on their official site in front of their La Liga conflict with Granada on Sunday.
The announcement read: "FC Barcelona and the German club have agreed for the advance of the French safeguard
"FC Barcelona and Schalke 04 have agreed for the advance of the player Jean-Clair Todibo until 30 June for a charge of 1.5 million euros.
"The German club will pay the player's wages and have a purchase alternative for 25 million euros, in addition to 5 million in additional items. In the event that Schalke 04 were to purchase the player than FC Barcelona keep up an alternative to repurchase him for 50 million euros, in addition to 10 million in factors.
