Ambrose Alli University Is Den Of Cultists, Says Edo CP – Varsity kicks

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Johnson Kokumo and the administration of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, have differed on the ongoing remark of the CP saying the Varsity is a Den of cultists, Punch Metro reports.

Three understudies of the establishment and two others were shot dead by firearm toting attackers at a nearby bar situated around Judges' Quarters in the Esan West Local Government Area of the state.

What was planned to be a festival by a gathering of companions last Tuesday, ended up being wicked when a battle supposedly broke out between two people over an undisclosed issue.

One of them, who had guaranteed that his shirt was torn amid the fracas, left the scene in rage yet returned in no time with a gathering of outfitted men who opened fire, killing five people.

Recorded among the perished was a last year medicinal understudy of the school, Chinedum Anakor; a last year understudy of English, distinguished as Oba James;

a post-graduate understudy and child of a previous chamber director, Oselumense Abulu; a serving corps part, recognized as Ugwi Martha; and one Jerry Omobude.

The shooting was said to have brought about a mayhem as other fun-searchers and clients fled for their lives, while the bar was unexpectedly closed.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, had portrayed the occurrence as a conflict between match faction gatherings, including that that no less than four suspects were captured, while arms and ammo were recouped from them.

Kokumo had communicated worry over the predominance of cultism in the college. He likewise supposedly promised to address the "rising influx of cultism in the school."

The police officer was cited to have stated:

"Ambrose Alli University, I should concede, is a cave of cultists. The murdering was because of a battle between equal faction gatherings.

We are resolved to concentrate on the business at hand and check the rising rush of cultism at the school and other tertiary foundations in the state. We can't endure the circumstance."

However, the CP's announcement got under the skin of the administration and staff of the college, who depicted it as false and ailing in substance.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ignatius Onimawo, asked why the police would connect the assault to the college.

Onimawo expressed:

"That (CP's comment) is an unguarded articulation. What actualities does he have on the ground? For quite a while now, there have been no known religion exercises in AAU.

All in all, how could it turn into a sanctum of cultists? Two individuals had a squabble around the local area and, all the while,

one of them shot a few people nearby, in an eatery and amid a gathering. How does that make it (college) a sanctum of cultists?

"Does that bode well? On the off chance that an episode occurred in Benin and an understudy was shot, okay say that the University of Benin is a sanctum of cultists?

The occurrence (killings) happened exceptionally far from the grounds and keeping in mind that it was going on, we had a global gathering occurring in AAU. We never had any issue with anyone."
