The occurrence happened on Friday amid a pontoon venture from Zabarmari to Dusuman settlement.
Bulama Maidamma, the ward Head of Zabarmari, who comfirmed the occurrence, disclosed to NAN that two females and four guys kicked the bucket while three among the travelers were protected.
Maidamma said "the two females boarded the watercraft from Budum region, some of them were making a beeline for Dusuman for the Jummat supplications while others went to go to memorial service of a relative."
He credited the occurrence to the overwhelming breeze with dust storm which went on for around 30 minutes on Friday.
"The vessel inverted at the more profound purpose of the stream. The majority of them suffocated in light of the fact that they couldn't swim and were not putting on life coats.
"Thus, we prepared jumpers to go looking for them. They could save three travelers including the driver on Friday.
"Be that as it may, the continuous hunt of the six others took us until the point when Saturday night to recuperate their bodies," he said.
Malam Muhammed Labo, a nearby in Dusuman, revealed to NAN that his sibling who was a GSM technitian was among the casualties.
Labo said his sibling went for a memorial service of a relative at Dusuman.
Responding, Mr Bashir Garga, the National Emergency Management Agency, Northeast Zonal Coordinator, affirmed the episode to NAN.
Garga said that the majority of the travelers were coming back from Jummat petitions when the occurrence occurred on Friday.
Malam Bello Danbatta, the Head of Emergency Response of the State Emergency Management Agency, said the occurrence was accounted for late to the administration.
Danbatta said the office had activated it staff to the scene to determine the reason for the episode.
Mr Edet Okon, the Police Public Relations, Borno Command, said he was yet to be informed of such advancement, including that he would remark after full examination.
