This unfortunate news comes only days after the NYPD began a quest for the YouTuber, whose genuine name was Desmond Amofah.
Police said his body was recouped from the East River Monday night off Pier 16 in Lower Manhattan, and that a portion of his possessions was recovered close to the Manhattan Bridge, NBC reports.
On Tuesday morning, the NYPD shared the unfortunate updates on Etika's passing, composing on Twitter, "We lament to educate that Desmond Amofah otherwise known as Etika has been discovered perished."
Analyst Sophia Mason DCPI Spokesperson additionally partook in the proclamation, "On Monday, June 24, 2019, at around 1818 hours, police reacted to a 911 require an individual skimming in the waters in the region of South Street Seaport in the bounds of the First Precinct. Upon landing, officials found an inert, unidentified male at the area."
