IG Adamu Deploys Dogs In Train Terminals

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has deployed the canine unit of the force in all train terminals as part of strategies to strengthen security and deter crime along the rail corridors.....

Speaking during the exercise in Abuja on Tuesday, the IG explained that the canines would take part in patrols, surveillance, detection and apprehension of felons in and around railway facilities.

“By this event, our plan is to maximize our unique K9 strength to complement other sections that have been deployed as part of the broad policing architecture which we recently put together towards addressing our internal security challenges,” he stated.

Adamu noted that the force had earlier dispatched about 1,000 additional personnel to the Nigeria Police Railway Command.

This, he said, was designed to address the manpower gap of the command to address vulnerabilities, projected threats, and security challenges which the increasing human traffic and expanding assets of the Nigerian Railway Corporation might present.

He added, “With today’s initiative, passengers, members of staff, and indeed, all the citizens of this country can further be reassured of their security as they patronize the services of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

“I can also assure Nigerians that all the assets of the Police shall continually be mobilized and deployed towards denying criminal elements any space to operate in any location in the country.”

Adamu encouraged Nigerians to volunteer useful tips to security agencies, stressing that this was the civil obligation of all citizens and the most potent weapon towards winning the war against criminal elements.
