44 total cases were contracted in Thailand, India, Vietnam and Sri Lanka, Xinhua News Agency reported, quoting the Zhejiang Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission.
The commission said that 104 cases were contracted locally in the city of Hangzhou, adding that the province has seen a 33 per cent increase in the number of infections contracted while overseas.
Dengue is a potentially fatal severe flu-like viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes in tropical and subtropical areas.
According to the World Health Organisation, symptoms include severe headache, pain behind the eyes, nausea, vomiting, swollen glands, muscle and joint pains.
