Viral Couple Who Had Cheap Wedding Fall Back Into Poverty

Following the wedding which held in January 2017, the couple went viral and thus attracted attention from well meaning people who sought to establish them. However, it appears the couple have been hit with a sad end as their business has since been closed down.
Following the wedding, the young Kenyan couple were sponsored on their honeymoon trip and a supermarket was established for them to get by, but fresh reports indicate that the couple have been forced to sell off the property.
Wilson Mutura, whose wife Ann is expectant with their first child while speaking with Nairobi News revealed that he struggled with the business for months before deciding to sell it off.

The popular groom has since been forced to return to the road selling apples at Kasarani.
Speaking to the local news source, Mutura said: “We were making sales that were as little as Sh200 per day and at the end of the month had to borrow money for rent and so we decided to sell it off and buy enough fruits’ stock,”
The sponsor to the couple, Bonfire Adventures, who was responsible for stocking their supermarket was reported to have offered to pay three months in rent.Mutura while answering the question on whether or not they consulted their mentor and sponsor before selling off the business said: “Our mentor was always busy. He never shared any business tips so in the end we had to make a decision on our own.”
In reaction, Bonfire Adventures, through its marketing manager, stated: “We have been with them all though even during the recent baby shower we were with them. Let me find out exactly what happened and get back to you.”
