An Enugu-based Islamic scholar, Alhaji Abdul Isola, has
appealed to Nigerians to embrace the need for sacrifice by exhibiting genuine
patriotism, to pull the nation out of recession...
Isola, the Chief Imam of
Islamic Center, Uwani, Enugu State, made the appeal in an interview with
newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday. Isola, who spoke on the essence of Eid-el-Kabir,
said the country could achieve a lot when Nigerians put their differences aside
and pursued one purpose of developing and prospering the country. The cleric
said that just as Prophet Ibrahim intended to sacrifice his son whole-hardheartedly
in obedience to Allah’s word, so Nigerians, especially the rich and the intellectually
gifted, should emulate him to redeem the country from its current challenges.
“Sacrifice is the ultimate thing one can give to humanity, his people and a
nation. “Prophet Ibrahim intended to sacrifice his son whole-hardheartedly in
obedience to Allah’s word before He sent his angel to show him a ram to use for
the sacrifice. “In following same principle, we Nigerians, must sacrifice to
help others and by extension the entire nation, which will return Nigeria to a
path of progress and plenty once more,’’ he said. Isola, who is the Chief
Missioner of the Islamic Center, called on Nigerians to support and pray for
Allah’s guidance on corrupt-free leaders, who have the intention of leading the
country in the path of truth and progress. “We owe it a duty to continue to
support and pray for leaders in various spheres both in government, community
and religious circles, especially those that are hardworking and transparent
for Allah’s protection always. “The forces of evil, wickedness and corruption
should not be allowed to hold the country to ransom again “We need to pray and
stand by leaders of impeccable character, trust and transparency in our march
for recovery,’’ he added.
