According to Idoma Voice, John usually lure the girls to the bush with claims that he needed assistance in fetching fire wood for their mother and then takes advantage of them.

A source said mother of the girls, who is also a nurse
noticed certain changes in her children then examined them to know what
had happened to them after which the girls revealed what their uncle has
been doing to them.
The girls' family who just wanted him thoroughly flogged and sent back
to his village in Ado local government area of Benue state reported him
to the community's vigilante group.
