FCT Measles Campaign To Commence In February

The FCT administration has announced that the measles campaign exercise will take place across the area councils in February.
The Ag. Executive Secretary of the FCT Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Matthew Ashikeni, stated this at a measles vaccination campaign implementation sensitization of stakeholders in Abuja.

He said the exercise will take off in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Bwari Area Council from 8th to 13th of February, 2018, while Kuje, Kwali, Gwagwalada and Abaji area councils would have their turns from the 15th to 20th of February, 2018.
He said the FCTA targets 100% coverage during the campaign,  assuring that the administration would not spare any effort in tackling what he described as a very dangerous ailment that can lead to other complications.
He said 1,215 personnel were engaged for house to house mobilization six days before the actual date of implementation, adding that the distance of vaccination centers had been reduced to at least 1km to encourage parents and caregivers to present their children.
Ashikeni thus advised parents to visit any government facility near them and other designated centers to get their children immunized.
