PEOPLE of Awgu South State Constituency have asked Nigerians
to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2019 general
elections.
They said that the APC-led Federal Government has failed woefully in
delivering democracy dividends to Nigerians, adding that the failure has had
debilitating effects on the economy and lives of the people. The
constituents who met in Enugu under the aegis of Awgu South Vanguard for
Gburugburu, lamented that the constituency seat had remained in one out of 15
communities for 16 consecutive years and needed to rotate to other communities.
They therefore resolved that their only seat in Enugu State House of Assembly
would be rotating among the federating communities from 2019. No less than 98
stakeholders who attended the meeting assented to the resolution, saying that
“Awgu town has had more than its fair share of representation and therefore
should allow other component communities in the constituency to produce the
next representative in the state House of Assembly.” They said they needed a
new and vibrant representative at the Assembly to allow equity and elimination
of creeping restiveness. “It appears that representing Awgu South constituency
has become the birth right and exclusive preserve of Awgu town. This is
unacceptable,” the group said.
