A chieftain of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Osita Chidoka, said he would defect to another political party to enable him to realise his governorship aspiration in Anambra.
Mr. Chidoka will register in his hometown, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In a statement signed by Bright Nebedum, who is the Director General of his campaign organisation, on Sunday said Mr. Chidoka will also use the occasion to interact with the media and unveil his “plans and vision towards redirecting the fortunes of Anambra state and restoring its lost political and economic glory”.
The statement said Mr. Chidoka, who also served as a Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, has “never failed” in any assignment he had undertaken in the past.
It noted that before becoming minister in 2014, he showed his mettle as the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
It said that the Chidoka already commanded overwhelming support from various segments of Anambra citizenry.
“Also, he served as the Secretary, National Committee for the visit of Pope John Paul II to Nigeria in 1998, Assistant Secretary, 1999 Handover Committee, Federal Republic of Nigeria and member committee on Review of Abuja Master Plan among others,” the statement said.
A graduate of Management
from University of Nigeria, Mr. Chidoka holds post-graduate
qualifications in various fields, including a Masters Degree in
Transport Policy and Logistics from George Mason University, USA,
Certificate in Global Strategy and Political Economy from Oxford
University, UK and Graduate Diploma in Maritime and Ports Management
from National University of Singapore.
The governorship in Anambra has been fixed for Nov. 18 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
