Michy Batshuayi
Monaco are leading the race to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, ESPN FC reports.
Batshuayi, 23, is considering his future at Chelsea after saying he could not spend another season on the sidelines with next summer’s World Cup finals in mind.
The Belgium international struggled for regular first-team football at Chelsea following his big-money arrival from Marseille last summer, making just one start in the Premier League with another 19 appearances coming off the bench.
Batshuayi
ended the season in good form, scoring the goal which secured the
Premier League title against West Bromwich Albion as well as netting in
wins against Watford and Sunderland.
However, competition for
places in Chelsea’s attack looks set to increase next season with the
Blues reportedly in pole position to land Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.Chelsea have yet to decide what to do with Batshuayi but a number of Premier League clubs, including West Ham, have expressed an interest in signing him.
Monaco are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season after winning the Ligue 1 title and Batshuayi has emerged as a top target.
