Former director, Nigeria Export process Zones Authority (NEPZA), Mr. Emmanuel Jime, has won the APC governorship price ticket for the 2019 general elections in Benue.
The primaries originally slated to carry on Sunday didn't hold on account currently arrival of sensitive choice materials.
All 5 aspirants for the position slot stepped down for Jime, a former Federal lawmaker.
Those who stepped down for Jime were; Chief Akange Audu, Asema Achado, Michael Iordye, Titus Zam and Benjamin Adanyi.
Addressing the journalists on their call to step down for Jime, Audu aforesaid all of them voluntarily stepped right down to enable Jime to emerge the party’s flag bearer.
He aforesaid all of them signed associate degree agreement before the leader of the party within the state and alternative party stalwarts.
Chairman of the position Primaries within the state, man Mutiu ar, who conducted the polls by affirmation, therefore, asked those that were in support of Jime’s campaigning to affirm by voice vote.
He, therefore, declared Jime winner once the affirmation of the affirmative votes.
Speaking at the occasion, fractional monetary unit George Akume, leader of the party within the state, counseled the aspirants for his or her call to endorse Jime as their candidate and aforesaid along with his emergence, the party was guaranteed to seize power from the PDP in 2019.
In his acceptance speech, Jime aforesaid he determined, with the support of the party, to rescue Benue from the clutches of underdevelopment and impoverishment.
He regretted that the sacrifices of the founding fathers of Benue were being encumbered by politicians while not foresight and pledged to tackle the event challenges try the state.
He aforesaid the state had fallen into the tragedy of a failing government and regretted that those entrusted with the task of providing security, welfare had become “treacherous accomplices”.
The position candidate urged all party members to roll up their sleeves for the task of redeeming the state from those mismanaging its resources.
He assured of running an ” issue-based campaign innocent of bitterness and desperation”.
” we are going to serve our folks and not use brute force to compel them,” he pledged.
The candidate, who was born on 20th June 1962, bagged a degree in law from tABU city in 1983.
He served within the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2015 and was also a former Speaker, Benue House of Assembly.
