Magistrate of Police in Lagos State, Imohimi Edgal, told newsmen in Ikeja that the previous speaker, alongside others, assaulted and executed Akingboju Akindele, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, while endeavoring to impact the capture of some speculated cultists.
"On Oct. 27, at around 4:30 p.m, a group of Anti Cultism policemen connected to Area 'N' Ijede, was assaulted while endeavoring to impact capture of some presumed cultists.
"All the while, a cop by name DSP Akingboju Akindele was executed.
"Examination concerning the case prompted the capture of 49 suspects including a previous Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jokotola Pelumi," he said.
Edgal included that the suspects were followed to the previous administrator's home where they were accounted for to sleep subsequent to submitting the obnoxious demonstration.
He said examination had limited the captured suspects to five who effectively participated in the wrongdoing.
"The policeman's rifle had been recouped at waterfront Ijede where it was buried.
"Alternate suspects and the previous legislator will be treated as an associate. All the captured suspects are right now being researched at SCIID Panti, Yaba and would be charged to court on Monday." he said.
