Amid the drama surrounding her impending nuptials to Robert Preston, Phelan will be seen barging his way into the Bistro and going on a rampage as part of his revenge plan.
Having appeared on This Morning to talk about the dramatic scenes that are airing at a later time of 9pm each night, the Coronation Street actress touched upon Connor McIntyre's exit storyline before being asked about her own.
Referring to the reports about her future on the soap, Eamonn Holmes playfully asked: "Has your contract been renewed or reviewed?"
Kym had previously spoken about her future on the soap in her OK! magazine column.
Sharing the good news that she was staying on the cobbles, Kym said: "I’m really pleased to announce I’ve signed to Corrie for another year. It’s great to know that I’ll be there for another 12 months doing what I love doing and being with my friends."
The star also shared her excitement about being a part of the storyline due to the fact that Michelle was never directly involved with Pat Phelan during his time in Weatherfield.
"You would never imagine Michelle getting anywhere near this story because there’s not really been any connection really between Michelle, Robert and Phelan at all.
"So when I was told we were involved in this story, I was literally clapping my hands because it’s such an amazing thing."
Still wearing her wedding dress, Michelle can be seen lying on the floor and in pain whilst grasping hold of Robert's hand.
Ali Neeson and Kate Connor try their best to comfort Kym's character as she struggles with her injuries.
