This is the terrifying moment a young tourist is attacked by a crocodile while filming local wildlife with her friends in Queensland's notorious far north.
In the footage the women can be heard talking to each other while watching a mudflapper on the shore, totally unaware of the deadly predator lurking nearby.
A video posted on social media shows the 24-year-old walking along the water's edge when the small crocodile bites her on the thigh.
A Cairns and Hinterland Hospital spokeswoman said the woman received treatment for a bite at Mossman Hospital and was discharged later that evening.
The roughly two-metre saltwater crocodile will 'potentially' be removed, the environmental protection agency said in a statement.
Wildlife officers will search the area on Tuesday in an attempt to capture and remove the crocodile.
The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection said officers would carry out an assessment of the area in accordance with the current QLD Crocodile Management Plan.
Captured crocodiles are sent to reptile farms or zoos.
Far North Queensland residents and visitors are reminded that no waterway is considered completely free of the reptiles.
