Reasons Why Sex Is Good for Your Body

For most of us, sex is all about the PLEASURE, emotion and experience.
We rarely think about any health benefits, if any, that may be associated with a good romp in the sack.Aside from the obvious physical benefits, there are many other things going on behind the scenes that are making us healthier and happier each time we have intercourse. Here are 8 reasons why sex is great for your body (and 8 more excuses to start making more love).

1. Reduces Stress

Between work and family demands, it’s easy to get over-stressed. Stress is a silent killer that can lead to a number of health issues. According to WebMD, too much of this can cause the following:
  • Heart disease
  • Asthma
  • Headaches
  • Digestive distress
  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
Much like exercise, sex helps you release those feel-good hormones, especially if you’re able to reach an orgasm. Not to mention that in the heat of the moment, you won’t be thinking about any of life’s issues – you’ll be enjoying the experience. Taking a break from thinking about your worries will give your body enough time to relax and rejuvenate.
Aside from the physical benefits, intercourse also helps you to connect with your partner and enjoy a greater feeling of intimacy. This feeling of being close and safe will put your mind at ease and help alleviate some of the stress you have been experiencing. Even when life gets problematic, making the time to have sex can melt your cares away.

2. Relieves Pain & Migraines

Pain and migraines making you miserable? You may want to trade in your over-the-counter pain relievers for some fun between the sheets. In a recent study, researchers studied the effects of sexual activity on attacks in 304 migraine and 96 cluster headache patients.

Of the migraine sufferers, 60% reported an improvement in migraine attack with 70% of those reporting moderate or complete relief. Of the cluster headache patients, 317% experienced improvement of the attack with 91% of those reporting moderate or complete relief.
Please note: If you’re looking to fight off that afternoon pain or dull ache in your back, sex may be just be what the doctor ordered.

3. Helps You Burn Fat

Forget spending an hour on the treadmill to burn fat – spend it making love. Lovemaking can be a great workout and it doesn’t take much to get rid of quite a bit of calories. For a 25 minute romp, men burn an average of 100 cal. while women an average of 69 calories.
The longer and more intense the sex session, the more fat and stored energy you will get rid of. At that rate, guys could reduce up to 300 calories in an hour (if he can keep up the pace). Let’s face it – an intense love making session is so much more fun than running on a treadmill straight.

4. Fights & Prevents Prostate Cancer & Heart Diseases

According to Cancer.org, one in seven men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and it is the second most-deadly type in American guys. While those numbers can be frightening, new studies suggest that regular sex can actually help decrease a man’s risk of getting it.

Researchers at Harvard and the National Cancer Institute conducted a study on 30,000 men. Most of these were white, middle-aged and very few had ever had a sexually transmitted disease. Scientists had the men keep record of how many times they ejaculated each month in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and within the last 12 months (when the study was conducted). Of those, 1,500 would go on to develop prostate cancer.
Researchers found that those who ejaculated 21+ times per month had one fourth the probability of developing this nasty condition when compared to those guys who only reported 4 to 7 ejaculations per month. Experts believe that ejaculation cleans out the prostate, helping keep infections causing agents and other materials at bay.
Sex may also reduce your risk of heart diseases. The physical activity helps maintain your cardiovascular system healthy and the reduced stress levels further prevent heart attacks and other cardio illnesses.

5. Makes Your Menstrual Cycle Regular

If your menses is irregular, having intercourse can keep your cycle in check, and it does so in two different ways.
  • For starters, sex causes you to release hormones, which your body makes note of, helping to make you more regular.
  • Second, it reduce stress hormones that interfere with your menstruation.
Frequent romps in the sack can regulate your cycle, leading to a happier and healthier you.

6. Results in Healthier Sperms

Did you know that daily sex can actually make your sperm healthier? According to Australian scientists, having intercourse regularly clears out sperm from the testicles and also helps remove some of the DNA damage build-up.
If you plan on starting a family, daily sexual activity can improve your chance of conception. Even if you aren’t planning on having kids anytime soon, daily intercourse can clear out your system and prevent future health complications.

7. Helps You Relax & Raises Your Quality of Sleep

Do you have trouble falling asleep at night? Having sex can assist you to relax you and help you drift off to sleep quickly. Men tend to feel sleepier and more relaxed than women after making love, but intercourse can also have this effect on chicks as well.
ScienceLine suggests that this sleepy feeling happens for quite a few reasons:
  1. The act itself is physically exhausting and usually takes place at night and in the bed. It’s only natural to feel tired and happy after intense activity, especially when you’re already conveniently in your bed.
  2. Sex helps you release fear and anxiety, which makes you feel more relaxed and makes you more inclined to drift off to sleep after the deed is done.
  3. The biochemistry of a man’s orgasm may also make him sleepy. When men ejaculate, their brains release a myriad of chemicals, including prolactin. This is associated with sexual satisfaction and feelings of sleepiness.

8. Raises Libido of Both Men & Women

Having more sex will lead to even more of it. Low libido is an especially big problem for ladies, but maintaining more intercourse can actually reverse the problem.
Women need to be stimulated to become aroused. Most will only really start getting into the mood after the act has already begun.
But girls who engage in intercourse more often have a much easier time getting in the mood. The same can be said for men. The more sex you have, the easier it gets to become aroused.
