Army Set To Investigate And Punish Erring Personnel For Alleged Extortion

The Nigerian Army Headquarters has vowed to complete exhaustive examination concerning the charge of blackmail of suburbanites by its staff in Borno so as to endorse them. 


This followed a claim by Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno on Monday when he experienced an episode at a military checkpoint along Damaturu-Maiduguri street. 

The senator was accounted for to have blamed troopers for Operation LAFIYA DOLE conveyed along Maiduguri–Damaturu Road of blackmailing suburbanites and causing them pointless hardship. 

The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, in an announcement on Tuesday, said that Nigerian armed force as an expert and trained establishment saw such claims truly, especially originating from a senator. 

As per him, it is on record that, at whatever point such charges of troops' unfortunate behavior were made before, the Nigerian Army never reneged in leading exhaustive examinations to build up to them. 

"Where any infractions were built up against any workforce, fitting assents were applied in accordance with surviving principles and guidelines as accommodated in the Armed Forces Act CAP A20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

Iliyasu said that military specialists had anyway seen that such open upheaval, especially by a state senator, could be counterproductive.
