The State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, affirmed the episode to The PUNCH.

Mohammed stated, "One Rev. Dr. Kajetan Anuforo, the Principal of Patterson Memorial Grammar School, Awada revealed at Awada Police Station that there was a fire episode in the school at an area of the school residence when the understudies were out in the field for supplications.
"The fire which totally torched a residence close was at the end put off by the deliberate endeavors of the staff and understudies of the School.
"In any case, when the residue settled, it was found that a JSS 1 understudy recognized as one Chigozie Dim Anyichie matured 11 years, who didn't go out with different understudies for supplications, was up to speed in the inferno and consumed to the point of being indistinguishable.
"Police criminologists drove by DPO Awada Division, Tony Adeyi, visited the scene and took the unfortunate casualty to the emergency clinic where he was confirmed dead by a specialist."
Mohammed included that the cadaver had been captured and saved at the morgue for after death assessment.
"The Commissioner of Police, John Abang, has sympathized with the group of the person in question and requested for a tactful examination to find out conditions encompassing the episode," Mohammed expressed.
