A pregnant lady, Ramatu Mamman, her two-year-old child, Saminu and seven different people passed on in a watercraft accident in Niger on Monday, the Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency, Ahmed Inga, has revealed.
The perished were said to have boarded the watercraft from Shata Sabo in Shiroro Local Government Area when it overturned halfway into their adventure to Shata Soho in Bosso Local Government Area.
Among the casualties were a repairman, one John Moses and two of his disciples, Khalifa Danladi, 14 and Ubale Usman, 16; one Malam Muhammad Safir of Fulani extraction; one Malam Salihu Aliyu, and a multi year-old man just alluded to as Makadi.
Inga said two of the travelers including the watercraft's driver whose character couldn't be found out, survived the mischance, however that the driver was in a basic condition.
He ascribed the reason for the occurrence to surge wave. "They were at that point on the water when surge wave hit the pontoon constraining it to invert", he noted.
He said neighborhood jumpers were assembled to the scene not long after the accident,but just the remaining parts of Ramatu was recouped with her child tied to her back.
He said jumpers were all the while scanning for the reaming travelers.
