Man Sentence To a Year Imprisonment For Being In Possession Of Fake Naria Notes

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday condemned a 26-year-old man, Seun Abdulahi, to a year in jail for being in control of fake Naira notes. 


The State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department Panti had summoned the convict on a one-include charge of being ownership of fake  money. 

Abdullahi had conceded to the charge and asked the court to temper equity with forgiveness. 

Conveying judgment, Justice Muslim Hassan, held "in perspective of the supplication of the convict, the displays offered, and considering the way that the convict did not squander the season of the court, he is condemned to multi year in jail.'' 

Equity Hassan requested that the prison term should start from March 15, when he was captured. 

The Judge likewise requested the obliteration of the phony money within the sight of the court's Deputy Chief Registrar, following 90 long stretches of the judgment, if not claimed. 

Prior, the prosecutor, Mr Joseph Eboseremen, told the court police agents captured the denounced on March 15, at a web based wagering shop, at Ojuelegba in Lagos, while possessing the phony money. 

He said the cash adding up to N40, 000 involved; 39 bits of N1, 000 notes, and two bits of N500 notes. 

Eboseremen charged that a merchant had raised an alert when she saw that the monetary forms with which the denounced needed to pay for purchased things were fake. 

While demonstrating his case, the prosecutor offered the cash, the charged confession booth proclamation, the complainant's announcement and letters traded between the Police and Nigerian Security Mints Printing Company (NSMPC) as display under the watchful eye of the court. 

He at that point asked the court to sentence the convict as needs be, as recommended by law. 

With all due respect, while arguing for leniency, the blamed said the cash was given to him by his account holder. 

He said he didn't realize that the monetary forms were fake. 

The blamed affirmed that he just became more acquainted with when he endeavored to pay for a thing he purchased and the merchant raised a caution which pulled in the police.
