ICAF 2018 Lagos Art Show

The annual International Culture & Art Festival ICAF will be holding from July 25 to 28 in Lagos. 

As a sequel to ICAF Berlin 2017 editon, the culture and art show for 2018 edition that spans four countries including Nigeria, Kenya, south Africa and Germany with the theme: 

“Global Peace & Harmony” is to support art in Africa.
Disclosing this in a media parley in Lagos, the founder ICAF, Bruno Eke said, 

“The 4-day event scheduled to hold at Radisson Blu Anchorage, Victoria Island will draw art enthusiasts, collectors, historians and scholars of African heritage and culture to an engaging African heritage discourse, music and art exhibition. 

This year’s ICAF is set to attract an audience of 2000 art enthusiasts live at the art fair both Africa and Europe with an estimated 100,000 views online of artworks on the show.” 

At the briefing, stakeholders in the creative industry were hugely represented.

Among them are Chief Solomon Ogbonna, Founder Aguene Art Foundation and current President, Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos Chapter; 

Prince Emeka Ojukwu, founder, Music Awake  Africa (organisers of Nigerian Reggae Festival) and partners in ICAF art fair; Idowu Sonaya, Chairman, Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) Lagos chapter, professor Dilomprizulike, German based Nigerian artist; representatives from Female Artists Association of Nigeria (FEANN) and members from Performing arts. 

However, the 2018 edition of ICAF event that will kick off in Nigeria, Lagos precisely, is an off shoot of streamlined art fairs billed to hold in Kenya and South Africa in August and Berlin, Germany in October with each venue posing substantive theme: 

“Global Peace and harmony” for Lagos; “Art placement, alternative art spaces and experience” for Nairobi fair, while Berlin session holds with a theme: 

“Art experience and exhibitions” with workshop and art exchange. 

The body of work is categorised into collage, painting, photography, sculpture and prints and these will be coordinated by Professor Dilomprizulike, Berlin based Nigerian artist. 

In the Lagos show, 3 main sessions comprising Art conference, exhibition and workshop features. 

On July 28, the art conference, packed with huge contents that will push art into the new frontier is expected to attract stakeholders and scholars and the general public. 

Digital techniques that have revolutionized how lives can be transformed through art in a sustainable economy and other critical issues like the latest innovative thinking, including challenging what successful art entrepreneurs know and shaping how we understand the business of art around us, are among the topical issues that will be on discourse. 

This educative and incisive session will be anchored by Dr. Dilomprizulike, German based artist. 

An art exhibition displaying rich collections from African artists will take the stage at the exhibition space to be opened by a globally acclaimed contemporary artist from African descent. 

A workshop and masterclass scheduled on July 25 to 27 will also attend topical issues challenging the growth of art in the continent. 

Capacity building on a competitive African Art and the business of art among others, to be treated by Prof Dil will expose the process and practical steps for a successful art practice and contribution to the Global art economy.
