Buckingham Palace announced in a press release on Wednesday, July 11, that the British monarch, 92, will welcome the real estate mogul, 72, and the former model, 48, at the dais in the quadrangle of the royal residence.
The meeting will take place nearly two months after Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan (née Markle) tied the knot at the same castle in Berkshire.
A guard of honor, formed of the Coldstream Guards, will give a royal salute for the Trumps’ arrival while the U.S. national anthem plays.
Elizabeth and Donald will then inspect the guard of honor and watch the military march past. The commander in chief and the first lady will then join Her Majesty for tea.
The queen has met 11 out of 12 serving U.S. presidents during her reign. She never met Lyndon B. Johnson.
She met Ronald Reagan in 1982, George W. Bush in 2008 and Barack Obama in 2016.
U.S. Ambassador Robert “Woody” Johnson said during a news conference on Friday, July 6, that the Trumps “are really looking forward to meeting” Elizabeth.
The news comes a few days after London Mayor Sadiq Khan approved a petition for a 20-foot balloon of an orange, diaper-clad “Trump Baby” to fly above Parliament Square Gardens on Friday morning during an anti-Trump march.
Khan, 47, told CNN in July 2017 that he he believed it was not “appropriate for our government to roll out the red carpet” for the former Celebrity Apprentice host.
Trump rebuked Khan via Twitter around the same time for the mayor’s response to the terror attack on London Bridge. He tweeted, “At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!’
… Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement. MSM [mainstream media] is working hard to sell it!”
Meanwhile, a source told Us Weekly exclusively in February 2017 that Harry, 33, “is not a fan” of Donald, whom the prince thinks “is a serious threat to human rights.”
