Army Immunises 1,830 Persons Against Polio In Sokoto

Nigerian Army in Sokoto State has immunised 1,839 persons against polio in Wurno Local Government Area of the State as part of activities that marked this year’s just concluded Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).


The medical outreach was performed by the Military Hospital, Sokoto which also witnessed free distribution of insecticide mosquito nets, health checkup and treatment to the beneficiaries.

Speaking while flagging of the event, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Stevenson Olabanji urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the free medical outreach.

The GOC who was accompanied by Brig Gen Kennedy Udeagbala, Commander 1 Brigade, emphasized that the exercise is part of the civil- military activities of the Nigerian Army to ensure that the people received medical attention and be in good health.

The Village Head, Mallam Shehu Mohammed who spoke on behalf of his people who were the beneficiaries of the exercise commended the Nigerian Army for the kind gesture as well as their sacrifices in ensuring peace in the country. 

He also stated that the gesture will go a long way in improving their standard of living.

Earlier, the Commander, Military Hospital, Sokoto, Lt Col Igwe Ibila Amara expressed satisfaction over the large turn out which according to him, is a testimony of confidence the people still has in the Nigerian Army as Institution.

The occasion was witnessed by Maj Ibrahim Audu, Acting Commanding officer 26 Battalion, Sokoto and other staff officers at Headquarters 8 Division Sokoto
