Viewers watched as she was introduced as the new intern at Audrey's salon before she embarked on a very short romance with David Platt.
Whilst her relationship with Jack P. Shepherd's character didn't last, Emma, played by Alexandra Mardell, has settled in to the street and has been a hit with viewers with her hilarious comments.
And now fans believe that there could be more to Emma than her witty one-liners.
Pointing out the similarities between Emma and former Weatherfield resident Fiona Middleton – played by Angela Griffin, one viewer posted on Twitter: "#Corrie is it me? Or does Emma look like a young Fiona? Xx."
Fiona was a hairdresser in Denise's salon between 1992 and 1998 and it was during this time that she had a ill fated romance with Steve McDonald.
Picking up on the Fiona's past, another user quipped on the social networking site: "So how long before we find out that you're Steve McDonald's daughter from his brief relationship with the hairdresser? Fiona I think she was called? Great way to get Angela Griffin back. :-)."
Angela even hinted that her comeback storyline could involve a child when she told the Radio Times in 2014: "My idea for a return storyline – if I were to go back – was that I’d have been pregnant by Steve when I left. And I could then return with the child.”
Meanwhile, other viewers expressed their joy and excitement over the news that Emma would be staying on the cobbles for a little while longer.
Following the announcement that she had signed a new contract, Alexandra shared on her Twitter page: "Thanks everyone for your lovely messages! Super, super chuffed to be sticking around the cobbles for a while longer!! Having the best time playing Emma along side the Corrie fam! Happy as Larry!!! Xxx @itvcorrie #Corrie."
"So happy Emma's sticking around. She's a breath of fresh air & so much fun. Love her. #Corrie #Emma," wrote one.
Another commented: "Can’t wait to see more of you on the street glad you’re sticking around."
