Building Sector Agenda Unveiled By CORBON

The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) has unveiled an agenda on how to improve the building sector across the country.

Registrar of the council, Builder Peter Kuroshi at the 16th induction of new builders on Thursday in Abuja, said the body had constituted committees that will ensure strict adherence of members to the standard needed in building construction.

He said setting up of the committees was to assist in ensuring that quackery are fish out of the profession.

Kuroshi, who linked building collapse cases and shoddy works to untrained builders, disclosed that the committee will soon be going round the country to inspect most ongoing construction works, and ensure that they are done according to the specifications.

“The committees are spread across the six geo political zones of the country to monitor and evaluate all projects and ensure that the desired standard is in place, especially the kind of materials being used.

“These committees will also help to monitor all categories of buildings from the starting point to completion, as well as ensure that those handling the projects are certified professionals”

He stated that building collapse will be avoided if the laid down guidelines are obeyed by professional builders at all levels of the construction work.

Kuroshi urged government at all levels and security agencies to support CORBON in achieving its dream of ensuring that quackery are shown the way out.

The Council Registrar advised the nineteen newly inducted and certified members not to focus more on financial benefit but how enhanced quality work
