In a letter the the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) , the continental body conveyed it’s approval for Port Harcourt, Rivers State to host the competition next year from the 22nd to 28th of April .
This was in response to a bid by BFN submitted at the BCA Annual General Meeting (AGM) which held in Thailand earlier this year.
Francis Orbih the BFN President has on behalf of the board and people of Nigeria expressed his gratitude to BCA for granting Nigeria the hosting right, and thanked the Executive Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike for accepting to host the championship.
He was however quick to point out that there is still a lot of work ahead if Nigeria is to deliver a world class championship. The last time Nigeria hosted the event was in year 2000 in Bauchi 18 years ago.
