James passed away aged 21, and his mother, Clare Milford Haven recently opened up a building in his honour named James's Place, where men can get suicide prevention help in a "non clinical environment".
And following the grand opening, the royal wrote a heartfelt message to his mother on her Instagram page, branding her an "incredibly inspiring woman".
"Her vision of a place where men in suicidal crisis can get the face to face help they need in a non clinical environment has become a reality this week.
"This will inevitably save many lives in her son James’ memory who we miss every day. So proud of you all. @jamesplaceuk #jamesplace#suicideprevention".
The heartfelt post comes after Prince William showed his support for the foundation as it opened its doors last week.
The charity took to social media after the Duke of Cambridge's visit, writing: "Today HRH The Duke of Cambridge officially opened James’ Place.
"His commitment to mental health and suicide prevention is having a huge impact on not only raising awareness but also starting conversations about a subject that has previously been avoided.
James sadly died from suicide in his family home in 2006, after suffering from depression.
He was close friends with Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, with Beatrice even attending his birthday party in the months before his death.
The pair, and their mother Sarah Ferguson, also attended his funeral in 2007.
