From the moment she first stepped onto the red carpet, aged two and dressed as Minnie Mouse for a Halloween party, Kaia proved to be a natural. She appeared in American Vogue at the age of three, curled up in her mother’s arms, and at 10 was handpicked by Donatella Versace to star in the house’s inaugural childrenswear campaign. Her teenage years offered the chance to forge her own path.
She fronted campaigns for Alexander Wang and Miu Miu, and has been photographed by everyone from Steven Meisel and Bruce Weber to her friend Kendall Jenner, who shot her for the cover of Love magazine.Having joined Marc Jacobs’ girl gang in 2016 as the face of his beauty line, this year she also appeared in his new campaign for Daisy, to celebrate a decade of the famous fragrance. Add to this a slew of modelling awards, a joint Vogue Paris cover with her mother and over 1.5 million Instagram followers, and you have a supermodel in the making. Now a red carpet regular, Kaia has swapped polka dots and Minnie Mouse ears for Balmain cocktail dresses and Moschino crop tops. Meanwhile, her off-duty uniform consists of slouchy T-shirts, stone-washed denim and a single statement piece – perhaps a pink faux fur coat, a velvet choker, a Baker Boy hat or even an iconic piece borrowed from her mother’s wardrobe for the ultimate Nineties throwback.
