Electricity:Private Consumers And Niger State,Owe N770m

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has cried out that the huge debt of over N770 million owed by the Niger State government and other private consumers in the state is capable of crippling the activities of the company...
This is as the Emir of Minna, Dr Umar Farouq Bahago, asked the firm to give 24-hour electricity supply to its customers in his emirate in order to boost their businesses and generate employment.
The AEDC Director, Risk and Compliance, Mr Collins Chabuka, said the organization was already feeling the negative effect of the debt and therefore solicited the support of traditional rulers in the state for the recovery of the debt.
Chabuka, who was addressing a sensitization programme in Minna on Thursday, said: “Niger State consumers are our highest debtors, they have to do something to reduce it for us to serve the state better. The electricity we supply we have to buy it, without money we cannot do so.”

He warned consumers against patronizing those he described as “quacks”, saying these category of people were responsible for the series of disaster that had taken place in the state in recent times.
