world class aeronautic academy, SIATA Aviation, Durban, South Africa...
According to a statement issued yesterday by the Special Assistant to Governor Muhammad Abubakar
on Communication, Alhaji Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar,
the proposed academy will be located at the Bauchi International Airport for Multi Crew Pilot Licenses Programme, Training and Aeronautical Engineering Advanced Technology Institution. According to the statement,
already, discussions with officials of the state government led by Governor Abubakar and SIATA Aviation based in South Africa have been fruitful and a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, is expected to be signed soon.
The statement explained that part of the objectives of the partnership are to foster the Bauchi Pilot Cadet with development and programmes with regard to the aviation sector as a whole and other opportunities that would benefit the state. Lukman said Bauchi State will become an important hub bearing in mind the fact that the training
center, being the best in the region, will attract students from within and outside the country. He said the partnership will assist in the development of youths in the state as priority admission will be provided, adding that in the near future, Bauchi State will commence training of pilots and aeronautic
engineers. According to the statement, the partnership is also expected to improve tourism activities as tourists can easily take off from the Bauchi Airport in smaller aircrafts and land at the Yankari Games Reserve within the shortest possible time. He added that a team of experts from South Africa are expected in the state to inspect the facilities on ground so as to finalize the partnership agreements with the state government. region.
