The McQueen man’s love of Savile Row tradition takes a ride on the subversive side this season thanks to Sarah Burton’s collection that undoes conventional menswear pieces and reconstructs them via patchwork placed panels, as if suits were crafted from cutting room scraps and interior stitching were made into exterior pinstripes....
Menswear color wheel staples anchor most of the collection (i.e. navy, charcoal, black, and camel), save for bursts of crimson red and a quartet of exploded stained glass prints. Tailored jacket and overcoat proportions are made heroic thanks to strong roped shoulders and longer lengths and contrast shirt collars provide visual interest between lapels where neckties would commonly be.
