The Referee Chief apologizes to Arsenal and Brighton over VAR errors on Saturday.

Following a series of VAR errors on Saturday, new PGMOL chief Howard Webb reportedly called an emergency meeting for all Premier League officials. Arsenal and Brighton were both sent apologies after incorrect decisions cost both teams valuable points, while Chelsea felt they should have been awarded a penalty on a nightmare afternoon for the league.

According to soccer report, Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) Chairman Webb has invited all officials to Stockley Park for an emergency meeting after Arsenal, Brighton, and Chelsea were refused critical judgments.

VAR referee Lee Mason allegedly missed to draw the lines that would have judged Christian Norgaard offside before he set up Ivan Toney's equalizer as Arsenal dropped two critical points in their title race during the 1-1 draw with Brentford.

While Pervis Estupinan of Brighton had his goal ruled off due to another blunder when John Brooks drew the offside line from the wrong defender. According to the report, Webb, who was only recently named PGMOL chief, may fire both officials after ordering an expedited review with all options on the table.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, and Webb has made attendance mandatory, as every referee, assistant referee, and VAR official is anticipated to attend after Webb was forced to apologize to both Arsenal and Brighton for Saturday's gaffes.

"The PGMOL can confirm that its Chief Refereeing Officer Howard Webb has contacted both Arsenal and Brighton to recognize and explain the serious faults in the VAR process in their respective Premier League matches on Saturday," the PGMOL said in a statement. "Both incidences, which were caused by human error and involved the interpretation of offside situations, are being thoroughly investigated by PGMOL."

Brighton confirmed that the PGMOL contacted them after their incident was detailed. "As PGMOL verified to the club last night, a serious error was made in disallowing Pervis Estupinan's goal versus Crystal Palace yesterday," the Seagulls said in a statement.

"The lines drawn in the VAR room to evaluate whether Pervis was in an offside position were erroneously drawn, and the goal should have stood. Despite being deeply unhappy by the incident, the club has accepted PGMOL's apology and will make no further remark."

While Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta chastised VAR officials for failing to spot that Brentford's goal should have been offside. "I just looked back, and it's offside," Arteta explained. "You can't block if you're offside, but it's irrelevant now because it's gone."
