Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stated that his team will be motivated by rage when they face Manchester City in a Premier League later today.
The Gunners' lead over City at the top of the table was cut to three points over the weekend following a contentious 1-1 draw with Brentford.
After Brentford's goal was incorrectly awarded due to the VAR official's failure to properly check for offside, Arsenal got an apology from the body in charge of referees.
"That surely has made our players, staff, and supporters even stronger and with a greater determination to overcome this hurdle that they have placed before us," Arteta stated at his pre-match press conference.
"We ended the game after evaluating all the images that we had with a significant fury and disappointment because that wasn't a human error. That was a significant failure to comprehend and comprehend your work, and it is not acceptable. It cost Arsenal two points, which will not be recovered."
Arteta was on Pep Guardiola's coaching staff at City when they won back-to-back titles in 2017/18 and 2018/19.
City have won two more Premier League titles in the last two seasons, and Arteta believes they will continue to be the bar for his team.
Arsenal have a game in hand on their championship opponents, but they haven't won the Premier League in 19 years.
"What they've done in the last six years is fully deserved," Arteta remarked.
"The way they play, the way they have competed, the way they have gone through adversity. The challenge for us is to reach that level."
