The FIFA World Cup winner, Lionel Messi, has been crowned The Greatest FIFA Men's Player.
Messi was chosen ahead of France star and World Cup finalist Kylian Mbappe.
The award was chosen by a panel of 184 national team captains, 192 national team coaches, and 195 media representatives.
Nigeria received votes from Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, national team manager José Peseiro, and record World Cup covering journalist Ibikunle Solaja.
Messi has won the FIFA Ballon d'Or seven times: in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019, and 2021. He earned the Best FIFA Football Award in 2019 and again in 2023.

"The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony also recognized the standout goal of the year as Marcin Oleksy won The FIFA Puskás Award for his spectacular finish," according to the FIFA website. Georgian midfielder Luka Lochoshvili received the FIFA Fair Play Award for his outstanding reaction while playing for Wolfsberger AC when an opponent player was unconscious on the field and Luka raced to his aid.
"In addition, Argentinian supporters were recognized for their support of the national team during the FIFA World Cup 2022, which saw a large number of fans go to Qatar and millions of fans welcome their winning heroes home to Buenos Aires and around the country."
