French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Monday that his country is ready to provide emergency relief to Turkey and Syria in the aftermath of an earthquake that killed hundreds in both countries.
"We are receiving awful images from Turkey and Syria as a result of an earthquake of extraordinary magnitude," Macron said on Twitter.
"France is prepared to provide immediate assistance to the people on the ground. Our hearts go out to the deceased families "said French President Emmanuel Macron, whose relations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have sometimes been strained.
On Twitter, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna expressed her "sincere condolences" to her Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, his country, and his people.
"France is by their side," she declared.
