Ayade said, “This year’s budget is tagged ‘quabalistic densification’. It is a magical budget of concentrating all of our ideas and ideals on a cumulative action point. The budget seems to address the fundamental thrust of our governance.
“It focuses on the realization of the core mandate of this government, which is shifting Cross River State from third world to first world within eight years.”
Last year’s budget, which he christened ‘Budget of Kinetic Chrystallization’ was N1.3tn.
The governor said the focus of this year’s budget “is to ensure the completion of ongoing projects such as the superhighway which attracted N664bn in last year’s budget and the deep seaport for which N88bn was budgeted in 2018.
“The 2019 budget will ensure that the products of all the industries are in the market. The focus is to have a Cross River of prosperity. Consequently, 30 per cent of the budget will be devoted to the provision of infrastructure.”
According to him, each of the 18 local government areas will need a mini-superhighway as evacuation corridor from the deep seaport.
Ayade added, Cross River State has done very well in spite of its little resources. N1.8bn is deducted every month from the Federal Allocation to pay debts. But we have continued to pay salaries regularly as well as pensions.”
