Condemnations Trail Buhari’s Victory In Onitsha

Following the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as winner of the presidential election, Onitsha traders and residents, in Anambra State, have condemned the result, saying it’s opposite of their wish.....

It was observed that after the early morning announcement of the result and declaration of Buhari as the winner, many people gathered at the newsstand, in different groups, discussing the election. Some alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was compromised.
One of them, Mr. Obiora Nneji, described the election as a sham. He said the result was against the wish of the people who he claimed voted for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but their votes did not count. Nneji alleged that the result was upturned by the ruling party and the electoral umpire in favor of the incumbent.
He, however, lauded the courage of the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubukar, who rejected the result of the election and promised to challenge it at the tribunal.
“But, my fear is whether he would get victory at the court, because they have already started their plot from the judiciary.
“We should have hope and God will see us through because Nigerians cannot afford to pass through another hell for another four years, God forbid. Is it the killings everywhere by headsmen, armed bandits, or Boko Haram insurgents; is it the economy and hunger in the land?
The Chairman of Human Rights, Liberty Access and Defenders Foundation (HURIJE), Dede Uzor, described the election as fraud and robbery against Nigeria’s democracy.
“The election was fraud, for instance, in Yobe State, Buhari got over 400, 000 votes more than the accredited voters. The same thing in Borno, where there is Boko Haram insurgent, where did they get the result they announced in those states.”
He called on president Buhari to resign because Nigerians have rejected him at the polls and urged  Atiku should declare himself president, because he is the choice of the people.
