Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Merciful Oladele, affirmed the figure to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abeokuta.
Oladele said that the mishap was caused by speeding by the driver of the transport stamped SMK 867 XG.
He said that the transport lost control and slammed into the stopped truck with enrollment number AAA XP at 5:30am.
"A sum of 42 people were associated with the mischance; they contained 34 guys and eight females.
"Three male and two female grown-ups were harmed while seven male and two female grown-ups passed on," he said.
The part authority revealed to NAN that the harmed unfortunate casualties were taken to a close-by doctor's facility while the bodies were stored at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue, Sagamu, Ogun State.
