It was announced this week that the latest series of the long-running reality show will be the last on the channel.
While fans mourned the loss, it was reported that Big Brother could return on another channel.
Now, following speculation, ITV have been tipped to revive the show amid a reported bidding war for the show’s production company EndemolShine.
According to The Sunday Times, a number of broadcasters are all in the running to snap up the Dutch company, which is also behind programmes including Peaky Blinders, Masterchef, Broadchurch and The Fall.
It comes after Channel 4 and Sky both confirmed that they do not have plans to air the show, hosted by Emma Willis, in the future.
A message on Channel 4’s official Twitter account read: “Hi there, there are no intentions to air #BigBrother on Channel 4 again.”
While Sky followed suit, writing: “Good Afternoon, there are no plans for Sky One to show Big Brother I’m afraid.”
Channel 5 confirmed the news that the upcoming series will be the last in a statement on Twitter on Friday.
Posting to their 153,000 followers, Channel 5 wrote: “The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last - of either celebrity or civilian versions - on Channel 5.
We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.
"We’d also like to thank our brilliant presenters - Emma on Big Brother and Rylan from Bit on the Side - for their consummate professionalism, Marcus, the voice of Big Brother and all of the housemates who have created so many memorable moments.
"Most importantly, we’d like to thank fans of the show for their support over the last seven years. We look forward to giving the final series a brilliant send-off."
